We are excited to announce a new program that encourages us to stretch our comfort zone and bring us together for conversation. Our hope is to foster new friendships by participating in the Open Hearts ~ Open Minds Book Club. Join us in a safe space for this youth book club on the second Saturday of each month to discuss diversity. Each month we will cover a different, nationally-recognized, diversity acknowledgment.

We will be reading picture books to our Pre-K kids ages (0-5). For kids ages (6-10), they can either read on their own or you can enjoy the book as a family. We will have several copies of each book available at the library beginning a month before the scheduled conversation date.

Each month, we will get together to talk about what we have read. Did the children enjoy it? Did you? Did you learn anything new? Did it make you laugh or cry? During the discussion, we will assemble an easy craft related to the books or let kids play while we talk.

Middle Grade (ages 10-14) and Teens (ages 15-19): Read the title(s) before our meeting date and come prepared with an open heart and open mind to have a conversation with your peers, encouraged by your youth librarians. See our website for the list of scheduled topics or log in to READsquared.
