The U.S. Department of Education stresses the importance of the S.T.E.M. fields–Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math–for helping youth develop critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills that are crucial in our increasingly complex world. To encourage kids of all ages to explore the S.T.E.M. fields, and to assist teachers who would like to incorporate S.T.E.M. activities into their classrooms, the Library offers a variety of S.T.E.M. kits for checkout. Kits can be checked-out for two weeks at a time and can be placed on hold. Plant Cell Kit4D Science: Plant Cell (Ages 8 and Up) 4D Master. Put together a model of a plant cell. The plant cell is not only enclosed in a thin cell membrane, but also protected by a rigid protective cell wall. This small room contains many different organelles including a membrane-bound nucleus.
